BASIC EMAIL OPERATION



  • email is a mail ,but it is sent electronically across the internet. 
  • quickly delivered in seconds or minutes.

email client
  • software/program that can transfer email from a local host to a local email server.
email server
  • software/program that can send/receive email from/to other email servers.

mailbox
  • an electronic mailbox is a disk file which holds email messages






email address
  • we need the email address of the recipient & user/host
  • domain name of the mail server
  • user name of the recipient
  • username and host name are separated by '@'

email clients
  • an application that runs on a personal computer or workstation and enables people to send ,receive and organize email
  • mail is sent from many clients to a central server, which re-routes the mail to its intended destination.
  • graphical client
  • examples : microsoft outlook, thunderbird 








email server
  • a mail server (sometimes also referred to an email server) is a server that handles and delivers email over a network, usually over the internet
  • a mail server can receive email from client computers and deliver them to other mail servers. 
  • a mail server can also deliver emails to client computers

 overall, i found that even people nowadays are depending on smart phone to communicate, but still, they need email to send and receive the documents and files that have a large size. ❤
